Crime Update.

North Beat.

Exton.  Criminal damage to vision/gauge element of oil storage tank at dwelling in Stamford Road, between 8.10 and 29.10.18.

NB.  As winter approaches oil stores are topped up and we can expect a series of thefts from domestic oil tanks. This may be the start of a series of attacks on domestic heating oil stocks.  Please consider your security by looking under ‘Crime Prevention’ heading on our website under Heating oil theft.

Whissendine.  Burglary dwelling Whissendine Road, between 8.50am and 12.50pm 31.10.18 (Wed).  Entry by climbing onto flat roof, smash bedroom window.  Untidy search upstairs.  Not yet known what stolen.

Langham.  Theft of smartphone (recovered minus cover) between 12 noon and 4.38pm, 31.10.18 (Wed), from Rutland Garden Centre, Ashwell Road.

South Beat.

Uppingham area.  Building site for 6 homes in Leicester Road overnight 25/26.10.18 (Thurs/Frid).  Force metal fencing from wall, enter site smash windows and doors to enter 6 homes in course construction.  6 boilers stolen (£3000), damage est £3000.  Clearly a vehicle used, probably a van.

Belton in Rutland.  Theft of trailer from premises set back from New Road, between 3.30pm 11.10 and 8pm 26.10.18.  Stolen a small Ifor Williams P6 750kg trailer bearing rear plate **13GOJ.  Serial number known.

Barrowden.  Theft of power tools from motor vehicle, Kings Lane between 4pm-4.10pm 29.10.18 (Monday).  Whilst owner taking property into home returns to find person removing power tools from rear vehicle.  Stolen Metabo make S1 angle grinder, disc and battery (value £310).  Suspect white male 30-40 years, wearing jeans grey baseball cap and jacket.  Got into grey Toyota Avencis (driver in vehicle) and drove off.

There have been many such crimes please be on lookout for grey Avencis, if seen loitering in questionable circumstances, do not approach but take index number and pass (tel 101) to police Rutland quoting Operation Pioneer.

Uppingham Beat.

Uppingham.  Burglary dwelling overnight 30/31.10.18 (Tues/Wed) two adjacent houses Firs Avenue.  Entry at rear force plastic panel in rear door.  Stolen Ted Baker watch and bottle Jim Beam whiskey.

 

Dark mornings and dark afternoons

It’s just gone 6pm and already dark outside! A dark and empty house can be a target for burglars, use timer switches to turn on lights while you are out. Be sure to alternate the times and lights that you use. Check outside lights are in working order too! 💡

Lock up and light up to beat the burglar.

Multiple reports of criminal damage and theft from vehicles in Lyndon Rd, Hambleton. Unknown person(s) have targeted 5 vehicles in the area. These incidents occurred between 13/10/2018 14:30 & 13/10/2018 17:00.
One report of an attempted burglary – business and community to Cottesmore Post Office. Unknown person(s) have activated alarm attempting entry. No entry was gained and suspects fled. This incident occurred on14/10/2018 at 04:15.
One report of theft in Cottesmore Rd, Ashwell. Unknown person(s) have taken a large lead flower pot. This incident occurred between 13/10/2018 23:00 & 14/10/2018 08:00.

Fraud and Cyber Protection Conference – In an ever-evolving technology focused world, fraudsters are finding new ways to target people for their money and personal information, particularly those that are more vulnerable.
We had great feedback from our event back in March, and so to raise awareness and help protect our community, Leicestershire Police are hosting another free Fraud & Cyber Protection Conference at Police Headquarters, on Friday 9th November.
Who is the event aimed at?

• Anybody who is concerned about fraud and cyber-crime, who would like to learn more in order to protect themselves and their families
• Anybody who works or volunteers with elderly or vulnerable communities who could help us raise awareness of the most common issues and spread best practice advice

• An introduction into fraud investigation, and how Leicestershire Police work with Action Fraud to respond to reported incidents of fraud
• Fraud prevention and doorstep crime advice, with a focus on recent fraud trends
• Cyber-crime protection advice, helping you to stay safe on your computer

Theft from a vehicle. Between 18:23 and 1842 Tuesday 31/07/2018, in Langham Rd, Ashwell. Entry gained property taken. Uppingham.

Theft from a vehicle. Between 19:00 Tuesday 31/07/2018 & 08:15 Wednesday 01/08/2018 in Old School Mews, Uppingham.

Unknown person(s) entry and property taken. Ketton. South Beat.

Burglary-residential. Between 18:30 Saturday 04/08/2018 & 07:34:00 Sunday 05/08/2018 Gained entry to dwelling in Geeston Rd, Ketton, removed car keys and took vehicle parked on driveway.
