Edith Weston – vehicle crime, between 10pm 15.9 and 8am 16.9.21, from Weston Road, theft of Land Rover Defender 4×4.  After search Police found vehicle in a field approximately 1 mile away having been stripped of parts including: doors, wheels, interior fittings, and bonnet.

If you have a Land Rover Defender (of any age) please give serious thought to how you wish to protect it.  Theft of and from this model is a problem nationally, and in all likelihood carried out by groups of slick thieves who will have reconnoitred access and egress.  Prevention is not simple and so my best advice would be to look at the sites below (and other Land Rover owner sites for their tips).  None of the options on their own will prevent theft if the thieves have the time and so it is a question of making it as difficult as possible for them.  The best method is to combine at least two methods together.

Rutland has one of the lowest crime rates in the country.  Crime is the responsibility of the whole community.  Please play your part by installing appropriate crime prevention measures, and if you have any information relating to crime or suspicious or anti-social behaviour, please pass it to your local Beat Officer.
