Rutland Local Crime Update for August.

Criminal Damage on West Road in Oakham 01/08/20 – Unknown person have smashed the wing mirrors on a ’63 plate Red Vauxhall Corsa two nights in a row.
Possession of Cannabis on Cutts Close Park in Oakham on 02/08/20 – Male youth stopped by police and found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis.
Theft of Lumber on Ashwell Road in Oakham between 16/07/20 and 05/08/20 – Unknown persons have stolen large quantities of wooden logs from the front drive of a property on Ashwell Road. This has occurred on at least 5 occasions in that time period.
Assault with an Air Rifle off of Ashwell Road and Burley Road in Oakham on 05/08/20 – Male victim is out walking his dog is shot with an air rifle pellet, leaving a red mark on his chest. The helicopter was called to assist in locating the suspects, however they managed to evade police. Local interest was piqued due to the use of the helicopter over Oakham for a period of time.
Shoplifting at the BP garage on Hackamore Way in Oakham on 13/08/20 – Unknown male enters the store and selects £94.40 worth of goods from the shelves before leaving without paying. The same male returns later and steals a further £83.50 also. Male is describe as white skinned, around 6’4” tall, slim build with blonde hair.
Theft of bicycle on High Street in Oakham on 15/08/20 – Female leaves her bike standing against a wall whilst she briefly enters a store, where upon it is taken. The bike is a Carrera Parva Ladies Mountain bike (16inch frame) with a gold stripe. If seen, please call 101 and quote crime reference 20*424495.
Possession of an Axe on Alwyne Close in Oakham on 17/08/20 – Male in an agitated mental state waves an axe at police officers and chases after them with it. Male is safely detained with Tasers drawn by officers to ensure compliance. Thankfully no officers were hurt and the male was arrested and taken into custody.

Theft of Trailer from Oakham Road in Hambleton on 01/08/20 – Unknown persons have stolen a medium sized caged trailer from the Rutland Wildlife Trust centre in Hambleton.
Theft from HGV from a layby on the A1 overnight on 09/08/20 – Whilst parked overnight in the layby near Great Casterton, unknown persons have cut the side curtain of an HGV and stolen a pallet of batteries from the back.
Theft of bicycle from Rutland Way in Ryhall on 12/08/20 – Unknown persons have stolen a bike left in the front garden of an address on Rutland Way. The bike is described as red coloured Trek mountain bike worth in the region of £700.
Theft of Power Tools from a van on Mallard Close in Essendine on 15/08/20 – Tools have been stolen from a red Transit van overnight. The offenders have cut the side of the van and stolen the following items:
- Dewalt laser level (dw088k)
- Dewalt 165mm circular saw (dcs391)
- Dewalt combi drill (dcd776s2t-gb)
- Dewalt grinder (dcg412)
- Dewalt 10.8v drill driver and impact driver (dck211d2t)
- Dewalt 2ah batteries x3
- Makita lxt set (dlx6067f-1)
- 1x van vault (s10810-2)

Theft of tools from a van on Digby Drive in North Luffenham on 03/08/20 – the following items were stolen from a white Transit van by suspects who forced their van into the van through the back doors:
- Bosch SDS Drill
- Bosch 18VCordless Drill (609003011)
- Bosch Impact Driver (511001350)
- Bosch Jig Saw
- Multifunction Tester Mega MFT 1731 (101919227).

Shoplifting at the Uppingham Central Garage on Ayston Road in Uppingham on 16/08/20 – 2 unknown males have entered the store and stolen £200 worth of goods, using a red Vauxhall Crossland on a ’68 plate to make off from the store.
Shoplifting at the Uppingham Central Garage on Ayston Road in Uppingham on 16/08/20 – an unknown male has stolen 4 bottles of wine to the value of £82 from the store. He is described as a white skinned male, around 5’7” in height, in his 20’s, with short dark hair and was wearing a beige top and dark trousers. He left the area in a red Volkswagen.
Shoplifting at the Uppingham Central Garage on Ayston Road in Uppingham on 17/08/20 – the same 2 males from the day earlier have returned to the store and stolen 5 bottles of wine to the value of £75. The same red Vauxhall Crossland has been used by the offenders.
As cycling becomes more popular thefts have started to increase. Cycles can be very expensive, so why not photograph the machine, including serial number, when you first buy it. A few minutes action could assist the recovery of your machine.
