Cyclist dies following collision in Oakham

A cyclist has died following a collision in Oakham yesterday evening (16 August).

The incident, which also involved a black Landrover, happened on Teigh Road near the junction with Edmondthorpe Mere, at around 6.50pm.

Officers, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of the collision.

The cyclist, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is understood the woman was with a number of other cyclists at the time of the collision.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who has any information regarding the incident to contact us.

Detective Constable Pete Davies said: “This is a rural road where the incident happened and we are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the collision. We are appealing to anyone who saw the incident or who has any information regarding the collision to make contact with us, no matter how insignificant that information may seem.

“If anyone has any dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident, then please also check this to see if you can assist us with our enquiries.”
