Attempted TV Licence Scam. Seaton

Two residents of Seaton have received e-mails about renewing their TV licences online.  This seems like ‘phishing’ as one of the residents doesn’t have a TV set.

Please take great care when dealing with unexpected communications e-mail/postal mail/telephone from seemingly reputable organisations such as the government/banks/BT, which requires you to take some urgent action to avoid a financial penalty.  This is not how these organisations work, so do not click on any links or provide any information or money in direct response.  Careful examination usually identifies some error.

If you have received anything similar, please report these cases to the National Action Fraud office, not local police, (link shown under ‘Reporting Crime’ on the App, ‘https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report-a-fraud-including-online-crime’).

Info from Seaton NHW and PC 2113 Peter Icke.”
