We all know Internet Crime and Scams is the fastest growing area of crime and this is a chance for us to help the Police with a little Prevention
As Covid19 disruption continues, being in a public engagement role is becoming increasingly difficult when you can’t engage with the public! As there is no indication of when NHW, WI and community meetings will be able to start up again, I am keen to try and reach out in alternative ways and this is where I need your help!
I’m after your teams local knowledge and contacts to get out important messages about online safety, fraud and scams to try and keep our communities safe.
Do you know of any community groups that would that are meeting virtually and would be interested in a cyber, fraud and scams input? I can deliver via Zoom, MS Teams and Circuit.
I am also interested in getting short articles published in local magazines and newsletters if you are able to provide details of these in your locality.
I’m also keen to promote our Facebook page (Leics Police Cyber Aware) which provides daily non-tech advice on how to stay safe online as well as warnings regarding scams and fraud.
We are of course keen to get both individuals and businesses signed up on the force community messaging service, Neighbourhood Link (www.neighbourhoodlink.co.uk)
Last but by no means least, my role is also to support and engage with local businesses so again, if you are aware of networking groups etc I’d be most grateful to receive information on these.
If you are a small business with under 50 employees, did you know that you can sign up for free core membership of the East Midlands Cyber Resilience Centre? Visit https://www.emcrc.co.uk/membership for more details!
So if you or your group are interested in a cyber awareness training, please contact Samantha as shown below
