Local Crime Update 27.2.19.

Oakham Beat.

Oakham Attempted theft of Range Rover motor vehicle, Station Road, 12.50am, 22.2.19 (Fri).   Alarm sounds and owner sees male inside his vehicle.  Suspect runs to a second and they join a third person and make good escape.  No evidence of how entry gained – probably ‘keyless entry’.  A white 4×4 Suzuki was seen acting suspiciously nearby.

Barleythorpe – Attention requested to park benches in Sports Ground, following repeated (20.2 and 23.2.19) cases of Criminal Damage to a bench, including smashing bottles scattering glass on the grass nearby.

Oakham – All Saints Church, Church Street, Theft from the Person at 7pm 26.2.19 (Tues).  Elderly person approached by main female  perpetrator (2 white female accomplices), she puts arm around woman victim’s neck, says she reminds her of her grandmother.  When she moves away the necklace had been removed.  Stolen: valuable (old) gold necklace with gold cross pendant.  Main Suspect: 5’4”, dark complexion, dark hair.  Only description two accomplices, ‘white’.

Rutland North Beat.

Teigh – Main Street, Criminal damage between 1am-10am 22.2.19 (Fri) to gates and then to crops by vehicle driving across farmland.  Anyone having CCTV in area, please check night for any trace of 4×4 type vehicle cruising the area.  Any info to PC Appleton.

Cottesmore – Burglary non-dwelling, Main Street, approx. 3am, 23.2.19 (Sat), door forced by instrument, alarm activated.  Believed cigarettes stolen.  Would anyone with CCTV in vicinity of store/Post Office please check and pass on any suspicious activity about 3am to PC Appleton.

Stretton – Burglary non-dwelling, Ram Jam Services, Great North Road, approx. 2.30am 25.2.19.  2 males appear to use crow bar to try to force shutters.  No entry gained.

Rutland South Beat.

Preston – Theft of Land Rover Defender 90 door, from driveway in Oak Road, between 9.30pm and 9.49pm 23.2.19 (Sat).  Vehicle no longer in production.

North Luffenham – Theft of front and rear number plates, from black Audi A3, parked driveway in Pinfold Lane, believed between 23.2 and 25.2.19.  Index number AD68 CZX.

Please report any vehicle seen displaying these plates to Police on 999.

Morcott – Theft of 19kg propane gas cylinder from cage on forecourt of Adams & Son petrol station, A47, overnight 25/26.2.19 (Mon/Tues).

Ketton – Criminal Damage (keying?) to nearside of vehicle parked Walton Close, between 8am and 6.35pm 26.2.19 (Tues).

Uppingham Beat.

Uppingham – Burglary non-dwelling, garden centre, Glaston Road, between 5pm 23.2 and 3pm 24.2.19 (Sat/Sun).  Vehicle drives over 2 fields to enter grounds.  Nothing stolen.

Uppingham –  Criminal damage to motor vehicle between 10pm 23 and 9am 24.2.19  Leicester Road, by walking up bonnet and onto roof.

Please Pay Attention to 4×4 vehicles cruising at night time.  Increasingly these vehicles are ‘forcing gates and hedges’ and ‘driving across fields’ to commit crime.

Please record the Index Number and pass to local Beat Officer (Tel 101).   Do not try to intercept or challenge.
