Rutland Local Crime Update for 14 days ending 12.07.2020

Oakham Beat:

Possession of Cannabis – High Street, Oakham (30/06/2020) – 5 x male youths searched on the high street in Oakham and found to be in possession of cannabis.  Drugs seized and suspects referred to Youth Offending Service due to their age.

Criminal Damage and Public Order, All Saints Church, Oakham (01/07/20) – Youths gathering at location have caused litter and minor damage to church building of a period of months, resulting in damage to one of the walls and a slab being removed.  Member of the public who has witnessed this has challenged the youths responsible who have responded with verbal abuse.

Burglary on Business Premises, Melton Road, Oakham (03/07/20) – Side door of premises forced open and entry gained to premises.  Offenders have searched the office and stolen money from the safe and items from the shop floor.  Forensics have visited the site and a tool used in the break-in has been recovered for evidence.

Male Brandishing Sword in Public, Burley Road, Oakham (10/07/20) – Male suffering with mental health is witnessed by members of the public, standing outside his address, smoking a cigarette and holding a sword above his head.  Officers attended and spoke with the male, establishing that the incident was linked to mental health.  Appropriate safeguarding was put in place to help the male repeating his actions.  Male did not threaten anyone during the incident.


Rutland North Beat:

Attempt Burglary, Essendine Road, Ryhall (29/06/20) – Home owner reports finding tool marks on rear window of their property, indicating someone had tried to break in.  The offender was not successful and no entry gained. Please be vigilant for similar if you live nearby.

Possession of Cannabis, Exton (30/06/20) – 18 year old female found in possession of a small amount of cannabis after stop search by officers.  Issued with community resolution due to having no previous trouble with police.

Criminal Damage, Great Lane, Greetham (04/07/20) – Large lock and chain on gate leading into field has been cut off by unknown persons.  Possibly made insecure in attempt for unknown persons to gain access to the land.

Burglary to Business Premises, Ashwell Road, Oakham (09/07/20) – 6 industrial units at Ashwell Business Park have been broken into, having their roller shutters attacked in the process.  No clear signs of anything missing on initial investigations.


Rutland South Beat:

Nothing of note.

Uppingham Beat:

Shed Break, Allotments on Leicester Road (02/07/20) – 3 sheds on the allotments broken into overnight and gardening equipment stolen; rotovator and strimmer (unknown brands).

Criminal Damage, North Street West (05/07/20) – Unknown persons have damaged garden pots in the front garden of victims property.  No CCTV. Witnesses or suspects.
