Rutland Local Crime Update for 14 days ending 14.06.2020

Oakham Beat:

Common Assault – Lonsdale Way, Oakham (01/06/20) – Male assaulted by known party, by punching him through a car window.  Male has been dealt with by way of community resolution.

Theft – Braunston Road, Oakham (05/06/20) – Theft of garden chairs from rear garden of property.  Offenders have possible got in by gap in the fence.  No leads at present and items are still missing.

Public Order – Hambleton Close, Oakham (06/06/20) – Female dog walker becomes verbally abusive to another dog walker, after a minor skirmish with their respective dogs.

Assault/Anti-Social Behaviour – Stamford Road and Uppingham Road, Oakham (07/06/03) – Two males from out of county drive around Oakham and squirt two members of the public with a water pistol.  The culprits have been identified by local officers and dealt with by way of a community resolution and letter of apology to the victims.

Attempt Distraction Burglary – Brooke Road, Oakham (10/06/20) – Victim is at home around 1130am that day, when there is a knock on the door from 2 males claiming there to be a water leak within her home.  The victim allows the males entry into her property, and she later discovers one upstairs in her bedroom.  Believed that no items were stolen, but a clear attempt was made.  2 suspects described as follows:

  • Male 1 described as 15-20yrs, not very tall with fair hair wearing a grey jacket.
  • Male 2 described as 40-45yrs, not very tall with short dark hair and wearing a brown leather jacket.

Possession of Cannabis/Offensive Weapon – Main Road, Barleythorpe (12/06/20) – 2 males stopped by local officers in vehicle found to be in possession of cannabis and a tyre iron which was secreted inside the offenders trousers for “self-protection”.  Both males have been dealt with by local beat officer.

Attempt Theft from Vehicle – Welland Way, Oakham (14/06/20) – 3 males reported to be breaking into a car on a driveway.  Nearby officers attend and apprehend one male who is arrested and interviewed in custody.  The investigation is ongoing.

Rutland North Beat:

Theft of Vehicle – Manor Farm, Essendine (10/06/20) – A green Land Rover Defender was stolen from the location between 00:15 – 07:00 hours that day.  The registration is AE65 UW*.  The vehicle is short wheel based and has a tow bar and internal dog guard fitted.  The vehicle was stolen without keys.  Any sightings or information, please call Leicestershire Police on 101 and quote reference number 20*293539.

Rutland South Beat:

Theft from Lorry – Great North Road, Tickencote (10/06/20) – Whilst parked overnight in a layby off the A1, unknown offenders have into the rear of the lorries trailer and stolen a pallet of Black and Decker tools.  This occurred sometime between 8pm on 09/06/20 and 5.50am 10/06/20.

Uppingham Beat:

Shop Theft – Co-Op, Uppingham (02/06/20) – Male suspect has entered store, selected £50 worth of meat from shelves and left without making payment.  A second theft is attempted later that evening but thwarted by staff.

Shop Theft – Co-Op, Uppingham (04/06/20) – 2 males enter store, select meat worth £160 from shelves and leave without making payment.

Assault/Anti-Social Behaviour, Ayston Road, Uppingham (07/06/20) – 2 males from out of the county drive around Uppingham and spray female with a water pistol.  These persons are linked to the earlier mentioned issues in Oakham – have been identified and dealt with by local officers.
