Rutland Local Crime Update for 7 days ending 25.1.20.

Oakham Beat.

Attempted Courier Fraud – Derwent Drive on 16.1.20.  Victim receives telephone call allegedly from Met Police Sergeant, that a man had been arrested with mother in laws credit cards.  Told not suitable to talk on phone and would get a rep from Santander to call to see her.  Victim suspicious and called Police, no loss.  Scam being investigated by Action Fraud.

Be very suspicious of calls about Bank Cards etc.  The scam varies but usually involves some request for urgent action on your part.  If you receive such a call contact your bank or the local Police.  Do not meet anyone or give details of your bank or credit cards.

Theft of ornamental bronze heron, 18” high, overnight 16/17.1.20, from pond at Oakham School grounds, Rushbrookes House, Ashwell Road.  Ornament snapped from base and removed, whilst a second ornament was damaged but not removed.

Burglary non-dwelling between 7.30pm 18.1 and 5pm 19.1.20 at Art and Design Building Oakham School, Kilburn Road.  Lock stolen from gate and window smashed.  Premises searched not yet known if anything stolen.

Burglary/Vehicle Crime, Welland Way.  Entry to dwelling though rear patio door.  Car keys stolen and these used to remove vehicle parked on driveway.  Stolen: VW Golf GTi Performance TS, grey, Index KP68 KU*

Rutland North Beat – Theft of mobile phone between 12 noon – 1pm 19.1.20, from reception area of Barnsdale Hall Hotel.  Stolen Samsung A4 smartphone.  IMEI number 353498111810***.

Rutland South Beat.

Tixover – Theft of sheep handling panels from a field access opposite Tixover Nursing Home (off A47), between 12 noon 12.1 and 3.30pm 17.1.20.  Stolen, 20 galvanised sheep handling panels, 8’x3’6”, bolted to the ground. Estimated value £5-6,000.

Manton – Theft of caravan from Lyndon Top Caravan park, Lyndon Road, between 13.1. and 20.1.20.  Stolen Elddis Crusader Super Storm Tourer, tandem axle, creamy white with a maroon stripe, Value £25-30,000.  Code use to bypass site barrier and moved anther caravan to access the one stolen.

Below is the same model but different colours.

Caldecott – theft of plant equipment, approximately 10.50am 23.1.20 (Thurs) from outside 2a Uppingham Road.  Workmen unloading equipment from vehicle to carry to rear of property.  Away for perhaps 5 mins and when returned for last piece of property found it had been stolen.  A Belle Wacker Plate, estimated value £7-800.

Uppingham Beat.

Burglary Business/commercial, at Select Convenience 5a, High Street East, approximately 11.45pm 22.1.20 (Wed).  Car pulls in front of door, shutters forced open and glass door panel smashed.  Thieves (2) go behind counter and steal cigarettes placing them in a white bag whilst third suspect keeps lookout.  Believed involved a white Ford Fiesta index FB19 FE*.  If vehicle seen do not intervene but report location to police.  If vehicle in motion report by 999 quoting crime ref 20*042097.
